Be Bold For Change - International Women's Day

I can't believe there is still a need for an International Women's Day. It's 2017, for Goddesses sake! But here we are, still, with an AWARENESS day! Oh, I'm sorry, did you not see us here politely waiting for our half of the cake? There are still (STILL?!) way too many changes that need to be made regarding gender equality. We women can move mountains if we make a daily effort to fight the inequality that we've been force fed our whole lives. It's the seemingly little things that, if applied constantly, make seismic shifts in our societies.

The theme for this years International Women's Day is: Be Bold For Change. I love this call to action because you really do need to be bold in order to bring about change. Big events, like the Women's March (last weekend and in January) are really powerful as they show how many of us have had enough. But I feel that where we really have to be bold is in our daily actions and speech. We must be bold in the way we challenge everyday sexism (at work, in public and at home), even if it feels awkward at the time. We must be bold in the way we challenge our own patterns in how we speak to and about each other as women (and how we speak to ourselves!) - dismantling comparison to make space for support. And we must be bold in the example we set to the younger generations of girls - showing them the power they have by being in our own power. 

This years theme for International Women's Day is perfectly aligned with what I wish my jewellery to bring to those who wear it. Your jewellery can be so much more meaningful than just a pretty thing to decorate you. Alongside a desire to create beautiful things, my intention for the jewellery I make is that it will help guide women towards their most powerful selves. I create jewellery as modern amulets to inspire transformation and empowerment. Wear bold to be bold.
