How to Find Your Ring Size
My handmade gold wedding rings are the most popular jewellery on my website so I spend a lot of time making rings for people. I have measured so many human fingers that I can often guess a customers ring size before measuring when they come into my studio to try on rings and look at designs. The majority of the rings I sell are sold to people buying from other parts of the country and often other parts of the world. So, how do you find your ring size at home when buying online?
Information to Ignore Online!
I’ve had a few customers get their size massively wrong due to some terrible advice online (the first advice that comes up when you Google this topic actually!). Please please PLEASE do not take notice of any websites telling you to use a piece of string or paper as a way to measure your ring size!! This will most often result in you ordering a ring that is way too big for you. You need to use something made for the job of sizing your ring finger.
Professional Sizers
The number one, most reliable way to get an accurate ring sizing is to go into a jewellers in person and get them to measure your finger with one of their metal sizers. If you’re in the U.K. this service used to be offered at larger Argos stores before the pandemic so check with your nearest one to see if they still offer this. Using A Ring You Own
If you happen to have a ring that perfectly fits the finger you wish to buy a ring for, there’s an amazing app you can download onto your phone. If you’re not sure which finger is for a wedding and engagement ring, it’s the finger next to your little finger on the left hand. Customers often ask me, can I measure my ring size on my phone? The answer is YES! Jason Withers Ring Sizer App is such an accurate tool for finding out the size of a ring you own. The ring must still be in a a good, round shape and it’s easiest to use a simple band that doesn’t have lots of protruding stones so it can sit flat on your phone screen. You increase or decrease the size of the circle on the app until it fits snugly against the inside of your ring shank. It will then give you the corresponding ring size.
Easiest Way to Find Your Ring Size at Home
The plastic belt ring sizers are the easiest way to find out your ring size. They are cheap and you only need one small, adjustable sizer to check the size of all of your fingers. I find them to be a very accurate way to check your ring size.
