I am knickers-wetting excited about the upcoming Alexander McQueen exhibition at the V and A next year. It seems ridiculous that I'm going to buy tickets in October for an exhibition that starts next March but I think this will be a sell out nearer the time.
There are a lot of beautiful fashion designers out there but McQueen stood apart from the rest. His collections were dark and mythic and so much more than just beautifying threads. Whenever I'd see a creation of McQueens it would make me want to have him round for dinner and talk about films (he must be a fellow Hellraiser lover) and books, the darker side of life and all of the other things that were floating around in his brilliant noggin. He is a true hero of mine and I am gutted that such a fearless creator no longer walks this earth. I'll never get a chance to convince him of the brilliance of my idea to make a film of Nights at the Circus with him creating all of the costumes. What a fantasy.
